NOTES:
The Bonnet is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows on a circular needle.
The Bonnet is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together as one.
The tie is worked with a single strand.

BONNET:
Note: To work with 2 strands of yarn, use the yarn tails from the inside of the ball and from the outside of the ball.

With 2 strands of yarn held together as one, cast on 56 (64) sts.
Knit 4 rows.

Row 1 (WS): Purl.
Row 2: *P1, k7; rep from * across.
Row 3: *K1, p5, k1, p1; rep from * across.
Row 8: *K2, p1, k3, p1, k1; rep from * across.
Row 9: *P2, k1, p1, k1, p3; rep from * across.
Row 10: *P1, k3; rep from * across.
Row 11: K1, p5, k1, p1; rep from * across.
Row 12: *K2, p1, k3, p1, k1; rep from * across.
Row 13: *P2, k1, p1, k1, p3; rep from * across.

Rep Rows 10 –13 for 8 (9) more times.

Last Row: K4, *p1, k7; rep from * to last 4 sts, p1, k3.
Bind off.

FINISHING:
Fold bound-off edge in half and seam for back of Bonnet.

Tie:
With one strand of yarn, cast on 50 (60) sts, from RS, pick up and knit 2 sts for every 3 rows across neck edge of Bonnet, then cast on 50 (60) sts.
Mark 6 center sts at back of Bonnet.
Row 1: K to center 6 sts, (k2tog) 3 times across these 6 sts, k to end of row.
Row 2: Knit.
Bind off.

Knot ends of tie if desired.

Weave in yarn ends.
