SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 2 1/2 yds Fabric (for cushions)
  • 2" Cushion Foam Pieces (2)
  • 2 yds velcro®
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:
NOTE:
These measurements are for 2 cushions, dimensions 23 3/4" x 30 1/2" and 24" x 38 1/2", made with 2" thick high-density foam. You may need to adjust yardage depending on the size of the cushions you'd like to make, and the thickness of the foam you use.
Sew with 1/2" seam allowance.
  1. For the first cushion, cut 2 pieces of fabric for the top and bottom - in this case, 31 1/2" x 24 3/4". Then cut two strips 24 3/4" x 3", two strips 31 1/2" x 2", and one strip 31 1/2" x 3".
  2. Stitch one part of velcro to right side of long 2" strip having edges even.
  3. Fold under to wrong side and stitch in place.
  4. Stitch the remaining section of velcro to right side of second 2" strip.
  5. Overlap the two pieces and connect the velcro closure.
  6. Trim strip to 3".
  7. Stitch the short sides of all the 3" strips, starting and stopping 1/2" from ends, having two short sides and 2 longer sides with the velcro strip for back of cushion.
  8. Pin and stitch this strip to top of cushion.
  9. Open velcro closure and pin strip to bottom of cushion.
  10. Turn and insert cushion.
  11. Cut material for the second cushion in the same manner, being sure to add for seam allowance.
  12. Stitch this cushion the same as first.
