SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Funkin
  • Paint:
    • Ceramcoat, Antique White
    • Americana, Bright Orange
    • TopNotch, Saffron
  • Paint For Stems:
    • FolkArt, Burnt Umber
    • Americana Sable Brown
  • Paint Brushes, Assorted Artists, 1" Chip, 3
  • Palette
  • Rag

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Apply one thin coat of Antique White to the body of the pumpkin. Let dry.
  2. Flip the funkin over and paint the bottom yellow. Continue the yellow about halfway up the sides of the funkin. Let dry.
  3. Turn the funkin right side up. With a 1" chip brush paint a second layer of yellow paint without painting the bottom again. The top edge of yellow should be a rough horizontal line. With another 1" chip brush immediately paint a band of orange paint above the yellow without brushing into the yellow. Pick up the brush with the yellow paint and stipple the edges between the two colors to blend without blending the center of the orange band. With a third 1" chip brush paint a second coat of Antique White. Stipple the edge of white into the top edge of the orange band. Let dry.
  4. Repeat the above bands, stippling the edges between colors. This second color coat will finish the funkin with saturated colors.
  5. To add more dimension to the stem of the funkin add small stripes of Burnt Umber to the depressions between ridges. Add stripes of Sable Brown to the high edges of the ridges.
