SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Canvas Fabric: 1 yd
  • 7/16" Extra-Large Eyelet Kit
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • Heat Transfer Vinyl: White & Cutting Machine or White Felt
  • SVG or PDF: Adventure is Calling

DIRECTIONS:

  1. If cutting words by hand, download the 'Adventure is Calling' PDF by clicking on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  2. Cut canvas to 20"x 26".
  3. Fold edges in 1/2" & press with iron.
  4. Fold edges in another 1/2" & press with iron.
  5. Pin in place.
  6. Sew around the edges, 1/4" from the folded edge.
  7. Make a mark 1 1/2" from the top & 1 1/2" from the side at the top two corners.
  8. Install the eyelets following the kit instructions at the marks.

  9. For heat transfer vinyl:
  10. Load SVG to cutting machine software.
  11. Cut words from heat transfer vinyl & weed away extra material.
  12. Center on the canvas banner & apply with an iron or heat press according to the materials setting instructions.

  13. For felt:
  14. Cut letters from felt using pdf pattern.
  15. Cut letters can be applied with fabric glue or sewn into place, 1/8" from the letter edge.
  16. If sewing into place, a glue stick is helpful to hold the letters in place.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Press deep creases by spritzing the canvas with water before ironing.
  • To reduce the fabric bulkiness at the corners, unfold the edges & cut off the squares at each corner along the creases.
