SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Wood dowel rods- various sizes and widths
- 1 Ball of string or natural jute
- Small bottles of acrylic paint in colors of your choice
- Small flat paintbrush
- 1 Roll of adhesive iron-on tape
- 1 Roll of painters tape
- Iron
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut the canvas material to the size that you desire plus about 2" margins.
- Fold the edges over on the side and press.
- Use the adhesive to finish the folded edge hem on the sides.
- Roll the fabric over the dowel rod at top and bottom of the canvas and then iron the adhesive at the hem to hold the rods in place.
- Using a pencil, design the patterns and shapes on the front of the canvas.
- Use painters tape at the edges of the design to make a clean edge when you paint. Rub the tape firmly in place.
- Paint inside the area using your flat paintbrush and paint towards the inside of each shape, away from the painters tape edges. Let each adjoining shape dry before you paint shapes that overlap.
- Once they are completed, use the natural string or jute and cut a piece to the desired length for the hanger. Tie each end to the dowel rod with a secure knot.
Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
- The fabric may buckle and wrinkle as it dries. When it is completely dry, you can iron it smooth from the backside.
