SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Cardboard
- X-Acto® blade
- Pencil
- Hot glue gun / glue
- Decorative materials: Paint, Foam, Fluff Paint, Décor Tube Mesh
DIRECTIONS:
- Use a pencil to create an organic rock shape to use as your reef's base. Make one side of the rock shape flat, so that the reef will sit flat on the surface. To create the 3D look of the base, create cross pieces that run perpendicular to the main rock shape.
- To intersect them you need to cut half way down one one piece and half way up on the other. See the visual for inspiration on how to create the organic pieces. You can add additional pieces to make the base more intricate or fuller.
- Hot glue the pieces in place to make sure they are sturdy.
- Depending on the look you want, you can use an array of products to bring out its features. Add fluffy paint for texture, use foam sheets for fins, tube mesh for tentacles. Experiment with craft supplies to add textures and details depending on the animal you are working with.
JOANN HACKS:
- Peel away the outer layer of cardboard to reveal the ribbed inner layer to add another dimension to pieces.
