DIRECTIONS:
To print the guide, click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  1. Cut a 1/2" ring off of one of the cardboard tubes using your X-Acto knife or your scissors. Place a rim of glue around the ring and immediately place it on the clear can lid. Once it has cooled, trim off the excess plastic outside of the ring. Fill the ring about 3/4 full with different embellishments. There should be room for the embellishments to move around. Place another rim of glue around the top of the ring and immediately place another can lid on top. Make sure the glue completely seals the ring. Place the filled ring on top of the other tube. You can connect the two tubes together with glue, hot glue or tape.
  2. To make the mirrored triangle to go inside of the tube, lay the mirrored Cardstock face down on the cutting surface. With your metal ruler and X-Acto knife, make 2 scored lines 1 1/2" apart and then make a final cut on the third 1 1/2". Fold the mirrored Cardstock inward to create a triangle. Tape the sides together using clear tape. Insert the finished triangle into the recycled tube. Lay the tube vertically onto a colored piece of Cardstock and trace around the tube. Cut out the circle and then cut out a small circle in the middle. Glue this viewfinder circle onto the end of the kaleidoscope.
  3. You can apply tape around the ends to give a more finished look to the kaleidoscope.
  4. Decorate the outside with markers, stickers or glue on embellishments.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Wrap the finished kaleidoscope with colored cording and tie on a clip so that kids can carry them around by the string or clip it onto their wrist or belt loop.
