  • Metal straight edge (ruler)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut pieces of cardboard to the sizes of the houses/buildings that you would like to make, using your X-Acto® knife and metal straight edge.
  2. On the front of the cardboard houses, draw lines to look like siding, bricks or paneling, using crayons or colored pencils.
  3. Use the construction paper to cover the cardboard, cut out windows, doors and shrubs. Glue them to the front of the cardboard buildings.
  4. Draw shapes for bushes, trees, and flowers on the spare pieces of cardboard. Using your X-Acto® knife, cut out any blank spaces in the trees to make them feel more dimensional. Paint them or cover them with construction paper.
  5. Cut out a tripod of cardboard to be glue and placed on the back of buildings and trees to keep them upright.
  6. For the swing on the tree, cut two pieces of jute and a small piece of cardboard. Cut two holes in the cardboard and run the jute through the holes and up over the tree branch. Attach to the backside of the tree using hot glue and a glue gun.
  7. Cut birds and the treehouse out of felt to make them more dimensional.
  8. Attach birds and treehouses using the hot glue gun or white glue.
  9. Use pipe cleaners, felt, pompoms, sequins, glitter and gems to decorate and add dimension to the all of the elements you create

JOANN HACKS:

  • Cut a large amount of the leaves and then glue them to the trees, rather than cutting out a few at a time.
