TIE BELT
With smaller needles, cast on 13 sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, (p1, k1) 5 times, k1.
Row 2: (K1, p1) 6 times, k1.
Rep last 2 rows until belt (when slightly stretched) meas 58 (59, 60, 61,62)”. Bind off in ribbing.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and K22 (23, 23,24, 24) sts up right front neck edge, K34 (35, 36, 37, 38) from back st holder, dec 4 (3, 4, 3, 4) sts evenly across, pick up and K22 (23, 23, 24,24) sts down left front neck edge – 74 (78, 78, 82, 82) sts.
Beg with Row 2, work 5 1/2” in K2/P2 ribbing. Bind off in ribbing. Place markers on each side of neckband 2 3/4” from bind off edge for foldline. Buttonhole Band: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and K158 (158, 170, 170, 170) sts up right front edge, beg at cast on edge and ending at neckband marker.
Beg on Row 2, work 7 rows in K2/P2 ribbing.
Nest Row (RS)-buttonholes: Rib 1 (1, 3, 3, 3), *bind off 2 sts, rib 15 (15,16, 16, 16) (including st on needle after bind off); rep from * 8 times more,bind off 2 sts, rib 2 (2, 3, 3, 3).
Next Row: Rib, casting on 2 sts over bound off sts.
Work a further 5 rows in ribbing. Bind off in ribbing.
Button Band: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and K158 (158, 170, 170, 170) sts down left front edge, beg at neckband marker and ending at cast on edge. Work as for Buttonhole Band, omitting all references to buttonholes.
Armbands: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and K94 (98,102, 106, 110) sts evenly along armhole edge. Beg on Row 2, work 7 rows in ribbing. Bind off in ribbing.
Sew side seams. Sew on buttons.
Tie Belt Loops: Try on vest and place markers on side seams for tie belt position. With RS facing and crochet hook, join yarn with slip st at marker and work a chain 3” long. Attach to side seam with slip st approx. 2 1/4” below side seam marker. Fasten off securely.
