Recommend making an easier version you can find elsewhere instead
I should have heeded the other reviews and the "intermediate" rating and gone with the simpler carrot drawstring bag tutorials elsewhere that are much easier, BUT I loved the look of these and already cut the fabric so I persevered and made four, but it took struggling through two for me to really figure it all out.
The directions are shameful on Joann's part, they force the reader to fill in the blanks with their own experience and knowledge and make too many assumptions on the part of the average home sewist. What really helped me to make these was to watch a tutorial on how to sew a "drunkard's curve" quilt block, as I think that's what this is based on. You pin them together as seen in my photo, starting with matching up the middle of the curves. I wasn't able to "ease" them together simply on the bias alone though, and did have to include a couple of little pleats that don't detract from the appearance but are not mentioned at all in the directions.
Additionally, what is never mentioned but essential is that when you fold it in half and sew on the straight edge you need to do the newly joined orange and green piece separately from the second green piece, and then turn the second green piece right side out, slip it INSIDE the orange-and-green piece and match up the seams on the green parts right sides facing each other, then you can pin and sew the scallops together before turning the whole thing right side out and hand sewing. I wish I took a picture of it to help others but the scallops are sewn around the circle so it can be tricky for a beginner.
I was afraid to do the top-stitching on a tube-like shape like this but it was not as bad as I expected and I just went slowly.
All in all, these are cute when done but by no means a quick and easy project, especially when you account for the hand stitching. Perhaps the second green piece could be made longer than the pattern so you could finish the edge while topstitching? In general though I hope this review helps someone else though with the lacking info about pinning the curve and how to place the green pieces in order to do the top.

Cute but expensive and time consuming
Glad I ignored the negative reviews. The directions were actually fine and the carrots filled with Easter candy make a nice table favor. However, they dp take a lot of time to make and are expensive, even with the cute fabrics on sale.

Made some changes
After reading all the complaints about how difficult this project was to complete, I reworked it using felt. I doubled the length of the carrot tops. I made one with a drawstring and one with elastic. I'll use those for candy. I made one just sewn together for a stuffed animal.

Changed the directions to make easier
I made mine into stuffed carrots, but I imagine they could still be a treat bag
Step one: Cut one orange carrot piece from template A and 2 green tops on the fold each time from template B
Step 2: pin together curve of green piece to top of orange, right sides together. As you pin you will need to make small pleats in the orange to adjust the size and shape. Sew these together. Press toward the green
Step 3: This is where I changed the directions, to make it so much easier to sew. Pin right sides together of two green scalloped edges and sew only the top. Clip the curves and turn right sides out. Press. At this point you could press straight bottom hem under 1/4 inch if using as treat bag. So now the outside has the finished edge and no need to hand stich later
Step 4: create the ribbon casing. Sew just above the top seam above the carrot across the green top and sew across again a 1/2
above that. The dots from template B should be between the two lines you sew
Step 5: right sides together sew from top to bottom on straight side, leaving open the ribbon casing. Careful to line up the opening. Turn it right side out and using pin feed ribbon through casing. I used embroidery floss, cause I had some on hand and I have a bone needle
Then I filled it with poly-fil, pulled the string tight and knotted it on the inside

Cute
I thought these were so cute I had to try making them even though a lot of the reviews were not good. I do agree that the instructions are not very clear to follow but I figured them out having some sewing experience. I just wish I could have found the same cute fabric as in the photos at JOANNs but to no avail.

Very bad instructions
I’ve asked Joann’s to repost better instructions, but they are unable to locate. Very frustrating.

Cute idea
From reading the instructions, sounds pretty easy to make. Is a cute idea. I think i will double the orange carrot part so there are no seams on the inside to see and to make sturdier.

So cute!
These are so cute for individual treat bags at Easter. I was a little concerned when I read the other reviews that I wouldn't be able to follow the directions. However, they came together very easily! I agree that a couple of pictures might help explain the steps, but really these are quite simple to sew.
