DIRECTIONS:

  1. To print the templates, click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  2. Turn the pattern to the back side, place Heat n Bond paper side up on the pattern and trace around each design element individually. Space the elements at least one inch apart. Use the paper scissors to cut out the Heat n Bond designs leaving about 1/2" around each.
  3. Fuse the HeatnBond design elements to the back of the fabric pieces. Cut out the designs on the lines using the fabric scissors. Use the fabric marker to mark the lines for the legs, face and tail.
  4. Fuse the eyes on the cat's face while the HeatnBond paper backing is still on the cat. Satin stitch around the eyes and along the mouth and nose lines.
  5. Cut two pieces of the Fuse N Tear stabilizer about 12"x 12". Turn the sweatshirt inside out and center one piece of the stabilizer over the area where the cat design will be. Following the package directions fuse the stabilizer to the inside of the sweatshirt. Place the second piece of stabilizer on top of the first piece and fuse. The two layers provide a firm foundation for sewing. Sew around the stabilizer using a basting stitch to assure good adhesion.
  6. Turn the sweatshirt right side out and place on the pressing surface. Using the fabric marker place a mark at the center of the design area. Remove the paper backing from the design pieces and place them on the sweatshirt aligning with the center mark. Be sure to tuck the edge design elements under the over lapping pieces.
  7. Fuse the appliques to the sweatshirt.
  8. Satin stitch around each design element beginning with those in the background. Satin stitch the lines for the legs and tail.
  9. Remove the basting stitches and the stabilizer. Press the sweatshirt.
