SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 Bag of Chocolate Meltable Wafers
  • 1 Bag of Strawberry Meltable Wafers
  • 1 Bag of Vanilla Meltable Wafers
  • 1 Hot Chocolate Bomb Silicone Mold
  • 1 Star Silicone Mold
  • Microwave
  • Wooden Skewer Stick
  • Small Plate
  • Small kitchen Knife with a Smooth Blade

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Follow the directions on the mold to create the cat head. Pour a small amount of the meltable wafers into a microwave safe bowl. Set the microwave of defrost or half power and for 1 minute. Pull it out and stir. Keep melting the disks and checking every minute by stirring them to ensure that they are melted completely. Pour the melted chocolate into the mold and rotate the mold to make sure the chocolate is completely covering the mold. Place it in the refrigerator for 1-2 minutes. Pull it out and rotate the mold again to make sure the chocolate is evenly covering the base of the mold. Place it back in the refrigerator until it is hard. Pull it out of the refrigerator and gently tug on the sides of the mold to release the chocolate form. Use your small knife to carve off any rough edges. Fill with hot chocolate mix and toppings before sealing the 2 sides together.
  2. To make cat ears, fill the star mold with 1/4 inch layer of chocolate. Allow to cool until chocolate is hard. Cut off star points with a knife. Use melted chocolate to attach ears to the hot chocolate bomb.
  3. To make any details on the face, warm any color of the chocolate wafers and using a wood skewer, dipping into the melted chocolate and draw on the faces onto the cat head.
  4. To make the tie dye look, melt two colors in different bowls and pour both melted colors into the mold. Use your wooden skewer to slightly swirl the colors together. Continue to cool the mold just like the other ones.

JOANN HACKS:

  • When carving any edges smooth, have a hot paper towel close by to wipe over the surface to even out the edges.
  • Don’t keep it in your hand too long or you will warm up the chocolate too much and it will be difficult to work with.
  • Hold the chocolate ball in a folded paper towel to prevent it from warming too much from your hand.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cute, but where are the supplies? Surely it would be beneficial to both Joann and the customers to have links to buy the required supplies in this article. I would love to make these but haven’t been able to find the correct molds. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
