SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cotton Fabric - at least 12"X9"
  • Lightweight Fusible Interfacing 12" X9" 1/4"
  • Elastic Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description on the right.
  2. Cut 1 pattern piece, on the fold, out of the cotton fabric and lightweight interfacing
  3. Apply fusible interfacing to wrong side of cotton fabric using an iron.
  4. Fold fabric right sides together, matching 9-inch (8-inch) sides.
  5. Sew along the 9 (8) inch side, using 1/4" seam allowance and leaving a space 3" wide in the center to turn mask right side out.
  6. Cut 2 pieces of elastic 7 inches long. Insert into the corners of the two open ends of the mask and pin into place. Sew across sides, backstitching well over the elastic, to secure the elastic in place.
  7. Turn mask right side out and press seams flat.
  8. Using pattern as a guide, fold up 3 pleats on each side, making sure the pleats are folded in the same direction. Pin into place.
  9. Top stitch around the entire mask, securing the pleats and closing the opening. JOANN HACKS: Substitute elastic with 4- 16" Fabric Ties at each corner. Any light-medium weight, non-woven interfacing is appropriate for this project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Contrary to another review it is adjustable. I’ve been asked to make more children’s masks. The basic pattern it great. It is adjustable by length of tie. I DID NOT use the interface as it makes them to hard to breath.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pattern has been corrected but no tie directions I complained earlier that you did not have the correct pattern linked to this pattern. I see that has been fixed. But the title says mask with adjustable ties. This is not included in the pattern. Also you have misspelled Adjustable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WRONG PDF Whenever you add new face mask patterns, you manage to give the wrong PDF.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Child Pleated Mask with Adjustable Ties The downloadable PDF does not match the instructions. The pattern is for the 4 piece sew together mask not the pleated mask. No way to use pattern to get pleats right.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adjustable Ties Missing I have made 1700 masks in another pattern. This seems easy enough, however the instructions omit the step on how to do adjustable ties I get chord locks from On Line and then pull an elastic loop trru them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong pattern attached Wrong pattern is attached for the adjustable pleated mask

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is adjustable If you use the ties and not the elastic it’s adjustable. PDF link is to wrong pattern. But you don’t really need a pattern. Just cut a piece of material the size ontbeb instructions and fold in half and sew. Easy peasy
