DIRECTIONS:
- Using skirt pattern pieces for View A- determine size needed.
- To determine size of squares- Draw a line at bottom hem on pattern piece. Subtract 2" for border and divide remaining length by 2, then add 1/2" to that measurement for 1/4" seam allowance. (for a size six, that measurement was 5 1/2")
- Cut 5 1/2" squares needed for skirt, over cut number of squares, easier to determine layout if you have extra squares-( for a size 6, 24 squares were needed.
- Layout square to best determine layout and color combination that looks good to you.
- Sew squares together in horizonal length using 1/4" seam allowance. Make two continuous strips from Center Back seam to Center Back seam. Serge seam for clean finish.
- Join 2 long strip together using 1/4" seam allowance and serge seam.
- For bottom border strip, cut a piece 5' by length of patchwork strip.
- Fold in half and stitch to patchwork strip using 1/4" seam allowance.
- Tape together skirt pattern pieces #1 and #2, eliminating seam allowance at side seam.
- Use just made patchwork strip with border to cut combined skirt piece (#1 and #2), leaving opening at center back.
- Stitch center back seam below notch, back stitching at notch to reinforce.
- Continue with Step # 10 in Simplicity pattern instructions and complete your skirt following remaining instructions for View A.
