  • Pliers
  • Scissors or X-Acto® knife
  • If doing the mold option you will need:
  • Silicone mold of choice (depending on your desired jewelry)
  • If doing the open pendant option you will need:
  • Open pendant bezel/frame
  • Bauble tape

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Read the directions on the packaging for the exact instructions on your resin/UV light of choice and modify the instructions to suit your desired jewelry item and resin/light.
  2. USING MOLDS
  3. Set up your UV light on your work surface.
  4. Place the silicone molds onto a tray or plate.
  5. Pour a thin layer of resin into your mold and place under the UV light for 90 seconds or the desired time on your products packaging to set the resin.
  6. Add another thin layer of resin and add sparkles, dye, embellishments to the resin. Place under the UV light to set for another 90 seconds, or as indicated.
  7. Add another layer of resin and layer in more embellishments or keep clear if desired embellishments have already been added. The more layers you want to your design the more layers of resin you can add. The last layer you will want to seal with a clear layer of resin with no embellishments to finish off the back.
  8. When working with molds, the bottom of the mold is the front of your finished design. So you will need to work keeping in mind the first layer you put in will be the front of your jewelry and layer back accordingly. Do not put too many opaque elements in first and then move back or you will not see the other layers.
  9. USING AN OPEN BEZEL/FRAME
  10. Set up your UV light on your work surface.
  11. Place the bauble tape on the back of the pendant frame covering all the edges so the resin cannot leak out. If your frame is larger than the tape, use two pieces of tape overlapping the tape in the middle.
  12. Place the open bezel frame onto a tray or plate sticky side up with the right side of the frame face up.
  13. Pour a thin layer of resin into your frame and place under the UV light for 90 seconds or the desired time on your products packaging to set the resin.
  14. Add another thin layer of resin and add sparkles, dye, embellishments to the resin. Place under the UV light to set for another 90 seconds, or as indicated.
  15. The last layer you will want to seal with a clear layer of resin to finish off the front of the pendant. Set under the UV light.
  16. Remove the bauble tape.
  17. When working with open pendant bezel frames, it is the opposite as working with molds. You will work from the back to the front of the design. So the last layer is the front of the pendant.
  18. To finish off your jewelry add earring wires, add charms to a bracelet, pendants to a chain or beaded cord and posts to stud earrings.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Use beads, glitters, charms and even found objects in your resin designs.
  • Work in thin layers to best cure the resin and to avoid bubbles.
  • Add swirl patterns in your resin by dropping a small dot of dye into your resin, using a toothpick pull the dye through the resin to add swirls.
  • Use an X-Acto knife or scissors to trim any overflow resin, it's best to set to a tacky consistency and then cut away before returning to the UV light to harden. It can't be done after being completely hardened.
  • If you get any air bubbles into your resin design you can use a heat gun to remove them. UV Resin is very heat-sensitive so introduce the heat slowly and be careful not to stay in one place for more than a second or two.
