SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Oven Bake Fimo® Clay (Various colors)
- X-Acto® blade
- Clay rolling pin
- Beads (stone & glass) various sizes and colors
- Thin rainbow hemp cording
- Clay Needle or Tooth pick
DIRECTIONS:
- Choose 2-3 colors of Fimo® clay. Knead them for a few minutes to soften. Twist the colors together to marbleize them. Keep twisting them together until you get the look you prefer.
- Roll out the marbleized clay to roughly 3/16" thickness
- Using an X-Acto® blade cut the shape of your pendant.
- Press beads into the clay pendant to create a design. Add dots, lines and impressions with clay tools or household objects like a toothpick.
- Add holes, with the clay needle or toothpick, to the top edge of the pendant so it can be strung.
- Bake as directed on the package.
- Thread the cording through the pendant holes, add decorative accent beads to the cording and knot in place. Cut to the desired length to be able to slip over your head and knot the ends together.
JOANN HACKS:
- If you prefer to use a template to cut your pendants, instead of free handing them into the clay, you can create a template. Use a piece of paper to draw out your pendant shape, cut it out and place it onto your clay. Cut around the paper template with an X-Acto® blade.
- To smooth the edges of the clay, dampen your finger and run it along the edge. This must be done before baking.
- When baking your clay, make a loose aluminum foil tent to cover and keep the heat from discoloring it.
