SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • We R Memory Keepers Candle Making Kit
  • Extra Bag of Wax Paraffin Chips
  • Wooden Stir Sticks or Popsicle Sticks
  • Mold Release Spray Bottle
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Follow the instructions on the candle making kit. Spray the inside of your mold with the release spray and let it dry before using the mold. Create one candle at a time because you will need to pour the next layer before the first layer cools off too much.
  2. When mixing in the dye, start out with the wax completely melted and lightly sprinkle in your dye. Stir it well before you add more dye. The color will darken as it mixes.
  3. Pour the next layer while the candle mold is still warm to the touch, but the previous layer has made a solid skin on top.

ANGLED CANDLE
  1. To create each layer, tip the mold at the opposite angle and pour the next layer of color. Let it cool slightly. For the top layer, set the candle flat and pour up to the max line.
  2. Be careful not to pour above the maximum line at the top of the molds. Let the candle completely dry before releasing it from the mold.

LAYERED CANDLE
  1. Pour the wax with the mold inserted into the frame of the candle maker.
  2. Let each color slightly dry, forming a "skin" before you pour the next color into the mold. Follow the rest of the instructions on the candle maker.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Make sure you work quickly before the first colored layer has completely dried. This way the different layers bond together well.
