SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 24" x 24" Stretched Canvas
  • Painter's Tape
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Brushes
  • Bone Folder (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Tape around all edges of the canvas.
  2. Tape off first large block of color - make a small pencil mark 8 inches up each side of the canvas. Tape off the 8 inch section.
  3. Apply first paint color to taped-off 8 inch section and allow to dry and apply a second coat.
  4. Once dry, pull off the tape around the first block of color and begin to measure the striped lines.
  5. Beginning from the bottom color block, measure out 1 inch and mark with pencil, then do 1/2 inch and mark with pencil, and continue all the way up the canvas until you have a total of eleven 1 inch spaces and ten 1/2 inch spaces.
  6. Tape around the 1/2 inch spaces to make your ten stripes. Apply paint, allow to dry, apply second coat, allow to dry, and pull off tape.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Use bone folder to press down the edges of the painter's tape to ensure very crisp lines.
  • Further clean-up can be done on all edges by applying white paint over any imperfections.
