DIRECTIONS:
- Lounge Chair:
- Cut fabric: 3 different solid colors
- 1 @ 23"x 23", top
- 2 @ 13 1/2"x 23", bottom
- 4 @ 3 1/4"x 23", sides
- 4 @ 1 3/4"x 56", piping
- 6 @ 2"x 18", ties, center cushion, 3 @ 2"x 18", each end cushion
- Place ends of 2, 56" piping fabric RST at opposite directions overlapping the end 2 1/4" of fabric. Sew at a diagonal. Cut 1/4" from stitching. Press seam open. This will make one length of fabric. Cut to 93" long. Repeat.
- Sew piping. Fold fabric WST over cording matching long raw edges. Use a zipper foot to sew close to the cording. Repeat.
- Bottom panel into one piece. Double fold one 1/2" hem on one 23" edge of both panels. Lay panels on cutting board, overlap hemmed edges to create a 23"x 23" panel. Pin the overlap on the raw edges of the fabric. Sew the overlap together 1/4" from the edges.
- Make ties. Fold over one short end of 2"x 18" strip 1/2". Fold sides 1/2" then fold in center. Press. Sew length close to both edges. Repeat, 3 ties for each end cushion and 6 ties for center cushion.
- Attach 3 ties to end cushions bottom. Attach 6 ties to center cushion bottom. Lay raw end of tie lined up with raw edge of bottom. One tie next to the overlap of bottom panels, one 2" in from corner and the third 2" in from the opposite corner. Sew 1/4" in from the edge. Pin the tie to the bottom panel to keep it from getting caught in other seams. Repeat for each cushion. Make sure that the center tie lines up from one cushion to the next.
- Fold top panel to find the center of one long side (side with overlap). Mark with a pin. The center of the bottom cushion will be the center of the overlap of panels. For the end cushions this will be the side with the ties. Start the piping at the marks. Leave a 2" tail of piping extending beyond the edge of the panel. Match the raw edges of the piping with the edges of the panel. Clip into the piping fabric to take the turns at the corners. Repeat for the bottom panel.
- Place sides RST on short ends. Make sure that sides are not twisted. Sew 1/2" SA start and stop 1/2" from each corner. This will create a loop. Press seams open. Topstitch close to the seams.
- Lay the top RSU on a flat surface. Lay sides loop on top RST matching side lengths with sides of top. Pin folded ends of sides 1/2" in from corners of top panel. Settle side edges to match with top edges. Repeat for all sides. Sew 1/2" SA. Clip corners to reduce bulk. Finish edge with zig zag to reduce fray. Flip and repeat for bottom.
- Turn RSO. Press out corners with dowel or chopstick. Fill with cushion. Settle cushion with seams facing sides.
- Chair Cushion:
- Cut fabric: muslin for top backing, 23" square
- 9 @ 7" square, prints, top

- 4 @ 6 3/4"x 23", solid, sides
- 2 @ 13 1/2"x 23", solid or print, bottom
- Bottom panel into one piece. Double fold a hem on one 23" edge of both panels. Fold 1/2" then fold again 1". Center one side of Velcro on RS of hem. On second back panel center the second side of Velcro on the WS of hem. Velcro should lay about 1/8" from folded edges. Stitch down both sides of Velcro to secure. Lay panels on cutting board, overlap Velcro edges to create a 23"x 23" panel. Sew the overlap together 1/4" from the edges. Set aside.
- Place sides RST on short ends. Make sure that sides are not twisted. Sew 1/2" SA start and stop 1/2" from each corner. This will create a loop. Press seams open. Topstitch close to the seams. Set aside.
- Layout 7" squares in desired pattern. Sew RST into groups of three with 1/2" SA. Press seams open. RST each group of three with the adjacent group of three. Match seams. Sew 1/2" SA. Repeat. Press seams open. Fold to mark centers of each side. Fold each flange piece in half lengthwise and mark at center. RST match center of flange with center of one side of center top panel. Sew 1/2" from edges starting and stopping 1/2" from corners. Repeat for other two sides.
- Fold front at a diagonal, from corner to corner. Layer flange ends matching raw edges. Draw a line on the flanges that is a continuation of the diagonal fold of the front. Sew on this line. Open the front and repeat for the other two corners. Trim off excess flange material past the seam. Open the front. The corners should lay flat. Press the corner seams open and press the long seams toward the flanges. Fuse the muslin to the back. Topstitch close to seams.
Fill with cushions. Settle one cushion at a time with seams facing sides.
- Pillow 1:
- Cut fabric: 1 @ 21"x 50"
- Double fold one 1/2" hem on both 21" wide sides. Lay panel RSD. Overlap the hemmed ends to create a 21"x 21" square. Pin raw edges together. Sew 1/2" SA. Clip corners to reduce bulk. Zig zag stitch edges to reduce fray. Turn RSO. Press out corners with dowel or chopstick. Fill with pillow form.
- Pillow 2:
- Cut fabric: 1 @ 21"x 21", front
- 2 @ 15"x 21", back
- 2 @ 2 1/4"x 56", piping
- Place ends of 2, 56" piping fabric RST at opposite directions overlapping the end 2 1/4" of fabric. Sew at a diagonal. Cut 1/4" from stitching. Press seam open. This will make one length of fabric. Cut to 84" long.
- Sew piping. Fold fabric WST over cording matching long raw edges. Use a zipper foot to sew close to the cording.
- Back panel into one piece. Double fold one 1/2" hem on one 21" edge of both panels. Lay panels on cutting board, overlap hemmed edges to create a 21"x 21" panel. Pin the overlap on the raw edges of the fabric. Sew the overlap together 1/4" from the edges.
- Fold front panel to find the center of one side. Mark with a pin. Repeat for the back panel. Start the piping at the mark. Leave a 2" tail of piping extending beyond the edge of the panel. Match the raw edges of the piping with the edges of the panel. Clip into the piping fabric to take the turns at the corners.
- Place the front panel RSU on a flat surface. Pin the back RSD on top matching corners. Sew on top of the cording stitching. Clip corners to reduce bulk. Zig zag stitch to finish raw edges.
