SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Textured solid outdoor fabric: 12/3 yards (assumes 44” fabric width)
  • Print outdoor fabric: 1 1/3 yards
  • Matching thread
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine

DIRECTIONS:

    Finished shower curtain is 72”x 72”. Fabrics used in photo: Better Homes and G ardens® Frey in mango and Better Homes and G ardens® Aruba in breeze.
  1. For top section, cut 2 pieces of fabric 5 1/2” long from the width of the fabric. Match print and sew together with right sides facing each other. Cut this fabric to 5 1/2”x 74” (this includes hem allowances on the finished piece).
  2. For mid-section, cut 2 pieces of fabric 47” long from the width of the fabric. Match print and sew together with right sides facing each other. Cut this fabric to 47”x 47” (this includes hem allowances on the finished piece).
  3. For bottom section, cut 2 pieces of fabric 23 1/2” long the width of the fabric. Match print and sew together with right sides facing together. Cut this fabric to 23 1/2”x 74” (this includes hem allowances on the finished piece).
  4. Sew top section to mid-section together with 1/2” seam allowance.
  5. Sew bottom section to mid-section together with 1/2” seam allowance.
  6. To hem all the way around the shower curtain, follow these steps: fold each side 1/2” toward the wrong side of the fabric and press; fold 1/2” down again, press and pin; stitch 1/8” from edge of fold to create a sealed side edge.
  7. Press completed shower curtain. Use shower curtain rings with clips to hang. Or to use standard shower curtain rings, sew button holes in the header.
