Color-Blocked Skirt

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• New Look Pattern #6579
• 1/2 yd. of 4 Coordinating fabrics
• 3/4 yd. Lightweight fusible interfacing
• 7" Zipper
• 1 Hook and Eye
• Matching thread
• Basic sewing supplies
• Pattern template

DIRECTIONS:

1. NOTE: Front and back both use pattern pieces #5 & #6 and are made exactly the same.
2. Use 5/8" seam allowance.
4. Cut view "C" pattern pieces #5 and #6 along cutting lines in preferred size.
5. Locate hem line for view “C" on RS of center back pattern piece #5; adjust and mark hem length as desired.
6. On RS of center back pattern piece #5 (includes center seam line), measure up 5" from hem line on center seam and place a dot. Measure up 7 1/2" on the other side and place a dot on the seam line. Draw a line on the pattern from dot to dot. (see example #1)
7. Measure down 2" from that line and draw another line. (see example #1)
8. Cut pattern on the drawn lines.
9. Tape the edges of the pieces onto a blank sheet of paper and add a 5/8" seam allowance to the cut edges. (see example #2)
10. On RS of side back pattern piece #6, measure up approximately 5" from hem line on side seam and place a dot. Measure up approximately 7 1/2" on the other side and place a dot on the seam line. Draw a line on the pattern from dot to dot. (see example #3)
11. Cut pattern apart on the drawn lines and add seam allowance as on #5 (see example #2)
12. Decide on the order of the color blocks - refer to photo.
13. Cut out one pattern piece at a time; flipping pattern pieces over as needed for each side.
14. Sew pieces together into panels as shown.
15. Follow pattern directions for View C skirt omitting pocket flaps.
