Cotton and Faux Leather Apron

DIRECTIONS:
SEWING
  1. All seams are 3/8" unless stated.

  2. Cut 2 Black cotton 3 1/2"x 20" for neck straps.
  3. Cut 2 Black cotton 4 1/2"x 20" for waist ties.
  4. Cut 2 Black cotton 3 1/2"x 18" for waistband and waistband facing.
  5. Cut 2 Black cotton 33"x 4 1/2" for skirt ruffles.
  6. Cut 2 Vinyl 10 1/2" top of bib x 9" at bottom x 9" deep.
  7. Cut a triangle skirt, 27" wide, and 18" at the center front to 3" at the sides.
  8. Gather and sew skirt ruffles to the size of cotton skirt triangle. Hem bottom of ruffles and sides with a turn and turn hem. Gather skirt at waist to 18".
  9. Sew waist ties right sides together, turn and press. Make a small pleat connecting to waistband. Sew to top waistband.
  10. Sew neck ties, right side together, turn and press. Place neck ties to top corners of bib, sew bibs together then down sides. Turn and center bib to center front of waistband. Sew facing waistband to wrong side of apron including end of waist ties. Sew the pleated satin trim to front of waistband.

CRICUT
  1. Measure your apron working space.
  2. Open Design Space and enter a text.
  3. Type the phrase "YOU JUST FOLD IT IN".
  4. Center your text and attach.
  5. Size to the working space measured on your apron.
  6. Change font to suggested DIN 1451 Com EngSchrift.
  7. Mirror your material if it's iron on. Cut with the Cricut and follow on screen instructions.
  8. Weed excess material and press with heat press, or place on apron using Cricut transfer tape for regular vinyl.

JOANN HACKS:
  • When sewing vinyl use a Teflon foot or Magic Scotch Tape on the bottom of sewing foot to sew easy.
  • To center Cricut on apron, fold the apron in half and mark the center fold with a piece of tape or iron it if the material is fine with iron, mark the center of your material you are placing down with a dry erase marker and then line to dry erase marker line and fold line up.
