SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1/2yd Sports Fabric
- 1yd Iron-On Interfacing
- 1/4yd Fabric Lining
- Basic Sewing Supplies
DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.NOTE: Sew 1/4" seam allowance.
- Using patterns as templates cut the following:
- Crown: Cut one each on fold of main fabric, lining and interfacing.
- Brim: Cut two fabrics on fold and one interfacing.
- Top: Cut one of main fabric, lining and interfacing.
- Iron interfacing to all lining pieces.
- Stitch center back seam of crown.
- Pin Top to Crown and stitch 1/4" seam clipping where needed.
- Edge stitch Crown and Top along seam.
- Stitch center back seam in each Brim section.
- With RST, stitch Brim sections together along outer edge. Turn and press.
- Starting at outer edge, top stitch around 1/4" from edge.
- Continue every 1/2" around Brim to inside raw edge.
- With RST, pin Brim to Crown, clipping Brim where needed.
- Sew lining Crown to Top lining.
- With RST, pin lining to hat matching seams and leaving an opening for turning.
- Turn lining to inside of hat and stitch opening closed. Press.

Cute but big
I ended up with a hat size of 23 3/4" which is way too big for me. The crown is also a bit too tall. I had The pattern is easy enough to follow but, I believe, line item 2 should state OF BOTH CROWN SECTIONS because line item 9 appears to assume that has already been done. Also line 9 should state that the brim and crown should be pinned AND STITCHED.
Also this took longer than 2 hours and I'm experienced.
