Stitching will be visible on the liner fabric only.
Handles: Fold each long edge in 1/2", press. Fold in half lengthwise, press. Sew 1/4" in from both sides. Cut in half for two handles.

1. Attach handles to liner front and back panels: Line up cut ends of handles with top edge of liner. Outer edges of handle 2 1/2" from corners of panel on large and medium bags, 1 3/4" from corners of panel on small bag. Baste handle to fabric from raw edges down 1 3/4".
2. Sew bottom panel: Lay bottom liner fabric WS up. Center the foam on the liner fabric, 1" around all sides. Lay the bottom outer fabric RS up on top lining up the fabric edges. Pin the foam to the fabric in the center, press to secure. Sew the edges of the fabric together close to the edge. Set aside.
3. Sew the front panels together: WS together front liner and outer. Sew side to side 2" down from top edge. Turn and press seam. Repeat for back panels. Open panels. Place front foam panel on liner fabric. Line up the top edge of foam along the seam, 1" from side edges of fabric. Fold the outer fabric 2" flap over the foam, pin in place. Sew ¼" from raw edge and ¼" from the top seam. Take care to keep the handles out of the stitching. Repeat for the back and the sides.


4. Secure the fabric around the foam on the front, back and sides: Straighten the bottom edges of foam on the liner so the foam is 1" from each raw edge of fabric. Fold the outer fabric down over the foam and liner. Pin the fabric to the foam 2" in from the outer edge of the foam. Line up the corners and raw edges of outer and liner fabric, press to secure. Sew close to the raw edges.


5. Sew the sides to the front and back: WST line up the top and bottom edges of the sides with the top and bottom edges of the front. Sew 3/8" SA starting at the top and stopping 3/8" from the bottom. Repeat to attach sides to the back.


6. Attach the bottom: WST line up the corners of the bottom with the corners of the front and back. Sew 3/8" SA starting and stopping 3/8" from the ends. Line up the corners of the sides with the corners of the bottom and sew, 3/8" SA.
7. Turn bag inside out. Press seams.
8. Sew outer seams of bag a second time to enclose raw edges. This will also make the bag reversable. Sew 5/8" SA. Sides to back and front then bottom to front back and sides. Sew one side at a time.
9. Turn bag RSO.

35. Drawstring: Fold both long edges of drawstring 1/2", press. Fold short ends in 1/2", press. Fold in half lengthwise, press. Sew close to both sides.
36. Drawstring channel: Fold short ends in 1/2" and sew close to raw edges. Fold long edges in 1/2", press.
37. Sew top outer panel to lower outer panel RST 1/2" SA. Press seam to lower panel and topstitch 1/4" from seam.
38. Attach drawstring channel to top outer panel: On top panel, mark a line 1 1/2" up from seam between top and lower outer panels. Place bottom edge of drawstring channel on the marked line, 1" from either end of the top panel. Lay drawstring centered and flat under channel. Pin the ends of the drawstring to the top panel to avoid shifting. Pin the channel and the drawstring to avoid sewing into the drawstring. Sew channel in place 1/4" from edges.


39. Pin drawstring ends over the channel on either end to keep them out of the way of future stitching.
40. RST outer panel and liner. Line up top raw edges and sew 1/2" SA. Turn RSO. Press. Pin liner to outer and sew around all raw edges with a zig zag stitch to prevent fraying.
41. RST match up short ends of side panel. This will create a tube. Match top corners and seam between top and bottom outer fabrics. Sew 1/2" SA. Press seam to one side and sew close to raw edge.
42. Place one fabric circle WS up. Lay foam circle on top, 1/2" from all edges. Lay second fabric circle RS up on top lining up raw edges with first fabric circle. Pin fabric to circle 2" in from outer edge of foam to keep foam from shifting, press to secure. Pin outer edges of fabric and sew close to edge. Zig zag stitch the edges to prevent from fraying.
43. Mark quarters on the lower edge of the sides tube by folding the tube. Pin directly across from the seam. Place the pin mark on top of the seam and pull out the sides to find the other quarter locations. Pin to mark.
44. Mark the bottom circle in quarters. Fold the circle in half and pin on either side fold. Place the pin marks together, folding the circle the opposite direction, to locate the other quarter locations. Pin to mark.
45. With RST pin the bottom quarter marks with the side quarter marks. Ease the circle on to the tube pinning every 1". Lay the circle bottom on the bed of the sewing machine, tube up, to sew 1/2" SA.
46. Turn RSO.

Fabric Wrapped Boxes:

1. Cut a square of fabric. Lay the fabric WS up on a flat surface. Lay a box centered on the fabric with centers of the sides of the box toward each corner of fabric. Pull up two corners of fabric and double knot.


2. Tuck the tails of the knot into the underside of the knot.


3. Pick up the two loose corners of fabric. Fold in the sides of fabric to create clean folds.
4. Place the end of one corner of fabric under the knot and pull the through to the other side. Repeat for the other corner of fabric. Knot together over the first knot and tuck the ends into the underside of the knot.


5. Cut a length of contrast fabric 3" – 4" wide tapered at the ends. Fold the long sides in. Pull one end under the large knot on the fabric. Make a small knot on top of the large knot. Tuck the ends of the fabric under the large knot.


6. Cut a square of fabric. Wrap the fabric around the box with a folded edge on top. Fold the ends of the fabric to define the corners.
7. Pull up the corners and double knot in the center of the top of the box.
8. This box was covered with a rectangular piece of fabric.
9. Fold over two sides of fabric to wrap the box. Fold the open ends of fabric to create tapers toward the corners.


10. Double knot the two ends together on the top of the box. Tuck the ends into the underside of the knot.
11. Cut strips of a contrast fabric. Curve the ends of the strips for a different look.
12. Roll the contrast fabric lengthwise to have the right side of fabric visible. Tuck each strip under the knot on top of the box. Tie the contrast fabric strips into simple bows.
13. Wrap the box with fabric. Double knot the corners in the center of the top with tails tucked in under the knot.


14. Add two strips of contrast fabric strips cut to points at the ends. Knot once on either side of the large knot. Loop each tail of strip through the underside of the single knot. Do not pull the loops tight. Adjust the loops so the print side of the fabric is visible.


15. Tie opposite corners into a double knot.


16. Pull one loose corner under the knot. Double knot the tail with the opposite corner tail.


17. Fabric Tags:


18. Print out the templates. Rough cut (1/4" outside of lines of template) one shape from a print fabric for the front of the tag. Transfer the pattern from the template on to WS of the front fabric. Choose a contrast fabric for the back of the tag. Rough cut the back fabric. Cut a piece of batting the same shape as the back fabric. On a flat surface stack the batting, back fabric RS up then the front fabric WS up. Pin together. Sew along the lines of the pattern leaving a 1" section open to turn. Do not leave a section open on a tight curve. Trim edges close to the stitching. Leave the section of fabric outside of the opening at approximately ¼".
19. Turn the tag RSO. A dull pencil may be used to gently push out points. Fold in the raw edges of the opening to match the edges on either side. Press. Topstitch 1/8" from the outer edge of the tag.
20. Sew a ¾" buttonhole ½" down from the top center of the tag.
21. Any other decorative layers should be added prior to layering and stitching the layers of fabric and batting together.
22. For a 1" stripe of a contrast fabric cut a 2" strip of fabric. The length of the fabric should be longer than the width of the tag. Fold the long sides of the strip under 1/2", press. Pin in place on top of the front fabric. Use a decorative stitch to secure.
23. For the gift card tag rough cut the pocket. Fold over the top edge of the pocket 1/4" and topstitch. Lay the pocket WS down on top of the RS of the front fabric lining up the bottom corners. Sew together 1/8" outside of the lines of the front fabric. Layer and stitch the same as other tags.
24. For diagonal sections of fabric on a tag see pattern cut lines. Place the two sections together and sew a ½" SA, press seam to one side. Layer and stitch the same as other tags.
