SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2 1/2"x 42" cotton fabric
  • 1/2"x 41 1/2" cotton batting
  • 1/2" swivel hook
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Iron cotton fabric in half lengthwise with wrong sides together.
  2. Reopen the cotton and place cotton batting on top, next to the crease.
  3. Fold the remaining fabric over the batting and press with iron.
  4. Fold the opposite raw edge in to the center fold and press. Fold it in again, iron, and clip or pin in place.
  5. Slide on your swivel hook and clip or pin the rest of the folded cotton in place.
  6. Close the loop of the lanyard by sewing the two short edges together. Move any pins or batting out of the way, unfold at the creases, and match the raw short edges together. Pin and sew. Press the seam open, replace the batting, and iron the creases back again
  7. Sew down the folded side of the lanyard 1/8" from the edge, all the way around, moving the swivel hook out of your way as you go.
  8. Then sew down the remaining side of the lanyard 1/8" from the edge, all the way around, moving the swivel hook out of your way as you go.
  9. Secure the swivel hook in place by sewing the two strips of lanyard together just above the hook.
