SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Assorted sizes of boxes
- Roll of adhesive contact paper: Peel & Stick NuWallpaper 20 1/2"x 18'
- X-Acto® knife
- Metal straight-edge ruler
- Cutting surface
- Tube of Quick Grip glue
- Plastic squeegee
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut the piece of contact or adhesive paper to be 1/4" bigger than the box. Take the measurement from the bottom front of the box all the way around to the top flap, so that it completely circles the box. (Don't worry about the sides yet.)
- Peel away the edge of the backing paper, center the box on the front edge with about 1/4" to go up the front of the box.
- Peel back the first 2" of the backer paper and fold up the adhesive paper edge onto the box, pressing firmly in place. As you peel off the backing paper, slowly and in small sections, use the squeegee to push out the air bubbles as you are removing the backer paper.
- Once you have completed putting on the first outer layer, trim it at the front edge of the flap.
- Cut pieces for the sides to make sure they go into the corner on the side and 1/4" over the top edge of the box and then go pass the side towards the front. Make sure it goes 1/4" onto the front side of the box.
- Cut the front piece to match the front with 1/4" over the top edge of the box so that it folds over into the inside of the box. Press firmly and use the squeegee to push out any air bubbles.
- Use the Quick Grip glue to glue down any edges that might want to peel up.
CRAFT HACK TIPS & TRICKS:
- When you find an air bubble in the middle of the cover box, use your X-Acto knife to make a small slit and push out the air bubble.

"Interesting" choice of materials
I think I would have tried this project -- if the boxes were to be covered in fabric.

Covered boxes
Just in reading the directions, I am sure that the person providing them is not experienced in this craft. !/4 " is not (ever) going to enough to fold to the inside of the box. Also the ends of the box should be covered first. I found this out the hard way. I had followed the instructions to the letter , .... but my boxes didn't remotely resemble the pictured result. Mom said "experience is the best teacher:" So far she has been right.
