Crochet Throw with Scallop Border

  • 12mm Crochet Hook
  • 6 Skeins of Blanket Yarn
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:
NOTES:
Finished blanket is approximately 50"x 60".
Striped portion of the pattern is worked in turned rows.
he border is worked in rounds along the edge of the piece.
With taupe yarn, Ch 61.
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and each ch to end of row. Turn. (60 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st to end of row. Turn. (60 sc)
Repeat row 2 until there are 8 total rows.
Tie off taupe yarn.
With cream yarn, repeat row 2 for another 8 rows.
Continue to repeat row 2, switching between taupe and cream yarns every 8 rows until there are 10 total stripes in the blanket.

EDGING:
Working from the last row completed, skip the first 5 stitches. Attach the ochre color yarn to 6th st in the row. Sc to the end of the row. At the last st, ch 2, the turn the blanket and work up the side of the piece, working 1 sc st into the side of each row until the next corner. Ch 2, rotate piece and sc across the row. At the next corner, ch 2, and work along the other side of the blanket, working 1 sc per row to the next corner. Ch 2, sc in the 5 skipped sts of the row. Sl st into the top of the first st. Do not turn.
Ch 1, sc to the first corner ch 2. Sc, ch 2, sc all in the ch 2 at the corner. Sc in each st to the next corner. Repeat this all the way around until the beginning of round.
Repeat the step above until there are 8 rows around the edge.
For the last scalloped round, ch 1, skip the next st, dc 5 times into the next st, *skip the next st, sl st into the next st, dc 5 times into the next st. Repeat from * all the way around. Sl st into the ch 1 at start of round. Tie off yarn and weave in ends.
