Crocheted Willis Hat

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• LION BRAND® COMFY COTTON BLEND® - Stained Glass (1 ball)
• LION BRAND® crochet hook size J-10 (6 mm)
• LION BRAND® large-eyed blunt needle
• SIZE:
• Finished Circumference About 18" (45.5 cm), will stretch to fit a range of sizes.
• Finished Height About 12" (30.5 cm)
• GAUGE:
• 12 dc = about 4" (10 cm).
• BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

DIRECTIONS:

STITCH EXPLANATION:
dc2tog (double crochet 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

NOTE:
Hat is crocheted in one piece and then seamed.

HAT:
Ch 55.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - at the end of Row 1 you will have 54 sc.
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Row 5: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, skip first st, dc in next st and in each st across.
Rep last row until piece measures about 11" (28 cm) from beginning.
Decrease Row: Ch 3 (does not count as first dc), turn, (dc2tog) across - you will have 27 sts.
Next Row: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, skip first st, dc in next st and in each st across.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.
Thread tail into blunt needle and draw through sts of last row. Pull to gather and knot securely.

FINISHING:
Seam sides of piece to make the Hat.

Weave in ends.
