SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Simplicity Pattern #9239
  • 1 3/4yd 60" Wide Quilted Velvet
  • 1 pkg. Heavy Duty Snaps
  • Snap Tools
  • Matching Thread
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: Jacket shown is made with 60" wide quilted velvet and has been shortened by 4".
  1. Cut out pattern pieces. Use pieces for jacket front and back, sleeve and cuff A, collar C and front and back facings.
  2. Note: no interfacing is needed and pockets are not used.
  3. Cut 4" off the bottom of front and back pattern pieces.
  4. Lay out and cut out pattern pieces.
  5. Note: quilted velvet has one way fabric nap, cut all pieces accordingly.
  6. Follow pattern directions to construct jacket, omitting steps for interfacing and pockets.
  7. Follow pattern instructions and use snaps instead of buttons.

JOANN HACKS:

  • For less bulkey seams, trim away as much of the batting as possible, especially around corners and behind snaps.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Why feature a fabric Joann's doesn't carry? Although the jacket looks cute, if a bit large on the model, it seems counter productive to feature a quilted velvet that Joann's doesn't carry. Perhaps you can include the name of a a fabric store that carries it.
