44" WIDE CANOPY HEADBOARD

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 3yds print fabric
  • 3yds solid fabric
  • 8yds pom pom fringe
  • 2 curtain rods
  • Rod hooks
  • Matching thread
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: Use 1/2" seam allowance
  1. From print and solid fabric cut one each 19"x WOF for the top front and one each 3"x WOF for rod pockets.
  2. For the top section, stitch the 19" print fabric to the solid fabric and the 19" solid fabric to the print fabric.
  3. With RST, stitch the print fabric to the solid fabric matching seams and leaving an opening in the bottom for turning.
  4. Clip corners, and turn RS out. Press.
  5. Slip-stitch opening closed.
  6. Stitch pom pom fringe to the solid side of canopy all around.
  7. Press under 1/2" on all sides of 3" strips.
  8. Measure down 4' from the top edge and stitch on the print strip for the rod pocket.
  9. Stitch the solid strip over inside front edge 18" from top edge.
  10. To hang canopy, measure down 12" on the wall from the ceiling and follow manufacturer’s directions and install hooks in the wall.
  11. Measure 24" on the ceiling out from the wall and install hooks.
  12. Put rods in pockets and hang canopy.

JOANN HACKS:

  • For a wider canopy, add desired width onto both sides of WOF.

53"x 78" DUVET COVER

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 5 1/2yds print fabric for duvet cover top
  • 3 1/4yds solid fabric for underside
  • Matching thread
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: Use 1/2" seam allowance
  1. From print fabric, cut one piece 79"x WOF and two pieces 6"x 79".
  2. NOTE: Fabric width measurements vary, be sure to measure the width of your fabric and add the appropriate amount of fabric to each side.
  3. With RST, stitch the 6" pieces to each side of the duvet top.
  4. Cut the solid into two 54"x WOF pieces for the underside.
  5. Make a narrow hem on one side of each back piece.
  6. With RST, stitch the duvet top to the back pieces, overlapping the top over the bottom piece, envelope pillow style.
  7. Clip corners, and turn RS out; press.
