DIRECTIONS:
- Before you begin you will need to know how to create a double wrapped loop over a metal frame.
- Gather all supplies before you begin.
- Always read through the entire instructions before beginning this project to get a feel for what the steps will be.
- Start by taking 2 of the larger Daisy Connectors out of the hildie & jo Copper Metal Connector pack.
- Take your roll of 26-gauge copper wire and unwind about 10 inches from the roll.
- Do not cut yet.
- Using your nylon jaw pliers, you will want to run the tips along the wire a few times to stop the coiling and to make it easier to cut and measure. It also work-hardens your wire a bit making it easier to work with.
- Measure your wire along the ruler and cut 2 - 4-inch lengths. This will be a bit longer than needed but it will make it easier for you to work with.
- Taking one piece of the 4 in copper wire and the Copper Daisy Connector wrap the wire in between one of the spaces where the 2 petals meet the center circle. Wrap the wire 3 times. Wait until the pearl is in place and secure, to trim the wire and tuck the ends in.
- Add a 6mm Crystal White Pearl to the wire and begin to wrap the pearl into place in the center of the Copper Daisy Connector on a diagonal, directly across from your first wrap.
- Once the pearl is secure on both sides, trim the excess wire and tuck the ends in with your chain nose pliers.
- This will prevent the wire from getting caught and give your design a polished look.
- Follow the same directions and complete the second Daisy connector in the very same way using the second piece of 4-inch wire.
- When you have completed both Daisy Connectors you can move onto the dangles.
- Working in production line style, take 6 ball pins, 4 -4mm Crystal Bicones and 2 -4mm White Pearls from your hildie & jo Preciosa Bicone Pearl & Crystal Mix pack.
- Add each bead onto a copper ball pin.
- Take your round nose pliers and start the first loop on each ball pin, then set them aside.
- Looking at your Copper Daisy Connector with the Pearl decide which petal will be attached to your ear wire.
- Connect your ear wire to it by opening the loop and inserting the connector petal, then closing it back up. The ear wire is now in place.
- Take a ball pin with a 4mm White Pearl and attach it to the petal directly across from the ear wire and at the bottom of the daisy where it will dangle when worn.
- Slide the ball pin loop over the metal frame of the Copper Daisy Connector.
- Hold the loop together with your round nose pliers placing them where the loop comes around and intersects with itself.
- Then using your chain nose pliers gently double wrap the loop into place. Trim the excess wire and tuck the ends in with your chain nose pliers.
- Your loops do not need to be perfect as these earrings have a rustic feel and a messy loop will only add to the character of the design.
- Following the same technique as you did to connect the small White Pearl, add a 4mm Crystal Bicone to each petal on either side of the 4mm White Pearl. This will create your crystal dangles.
- Follow the same instructions to create the dangles for the second Copper Daisy Connector.
- Once your earrings are complete, they are ready for gift giving, selling or wearing.
JOANN HACKS:
- When using a flush cutter on wire always remember to cut with the flat back facing back onto your length of wire to get a nice clean flat cut end. It gives your work a nice clean look.
