• 10" Embroidery Hoop
• 1/2yd of fabric
• Fiskars Micro Tip Spring Action Scissors
• Selection of DMC Perle Cotton, size 5
• DMC Diamant Thread
• DMC Embroidery Needles
• Elmer's Washable School Glue
• Optional: Ribbon to Match

DIRECTIONS:

1. Gather materials: fabric, embroidery hoop, coordinating thread and beads, needles, scissors, glue, ribbon (optional).
2. Place fabric in hoop, tighten hoop and trim fabric, leaving 2" all the way around the hoop.
3. To begin embroidery with beads, select a thread color, cut approximately 12" of thread and thread the needle.
4. Using the Backstitch or Stem Stitch, begin to add beads to the fabric, using the pattern on the fabric.
5. Continue this process, switching out colors of threads and beads.
6. Add as many beads as you wish until you feel your project is complete.
7. When finished with the beaded embroidery, tighten the fabric in the hoop once again.
8. Trim the fabric around the hoop, leaving 1/2" of fabric all the way around.
9. Turn your hoop to the back and using the Elmer's Washable Glue, run a strip of glue around the wooden part of the hoop.
10. Fold the trimmed fabric over the hoop, letting the glue hold it in place.
11. Allow the glue to dry.
12. Hang your project using a piece of ribbon to tie a loop through the hoop hardware or place on a shelf with a few of your favorite things.

JOANN HACKS:

• When choosing fabric for this project, beginners may want to choose a quilting cotton weight fabric. Experienced stitchers can expand their fabric selection to apparel, rayon and silk fabrics. Choose a fabric that does not have too much stretch; it should be able to tighten in an embroidery hoop.
