DIRECTIONS:
SIZE: Calendar is approximately 9" x 10.5"
PREPARATION:
- To make changes to this project, use the Mat Preview screen to adjust colors or move pieces to different mats. Make sure all of your pieces are within an 11"x 11" area, oriented to the top left corner of the mat.
- For best results, chipboard should be opened and left out for 24 hours to acclimate to your climate. If your chipboard starts to warp, place it under a heavy object.
- If you are covering chipboard before cutting, coat both the back of the paper and the top of the chipboard with an even coat of adhesive. Press the paper or photo down with a brayer (or firm, even hand pressure) and allow to dry completely before cutting. Additional passes may be needed for a complete cut.
- If you want to alter the project, select Customize, then use the tools in the Edit panel to make changes before you cut.
CUT:
- Use masking tape or painter's tape to secure edges of the chipboard to your StrongGrip Mat.
- Follow the prompts in Design Space to cut images from the chipboard, using the correct cut setting and the Knife Blade.
- Before removing your project from the machine, double check to make sure your project has cut all the way through and perform another cut pass if necessary before unloading the mat.
- Follow the prompts in Design Space to cut the images from the vinyl using the StandardGrip Mat.
ASSEMBLE:
- Measure two inches in from either side of the backer piece with a ruler, and mark with a pen.
- Use glue to attach the back supports along the marked lines, as pictured. Allow to dry completely.
- Glue two of the thin strips together, and allow to dry.
- Glue the two stacked, thin strips together, and glue their edges to the front of the chipboard backer, where marked. Allow to dry. These will form the bases for the month and numbers.
- Glue one of the wide 'keeper' pieces onto the front of the two month and number bases, and allow to dry. There should be a slight lip formed on the top side.
- Seal and paint the assembled calendar base gray. Allow to dry completely, and seal again for added durability.
- Seal and paint the number and month placards white. Allow to dry completely, and seal again for added durability.
- Remove the unneeded pieces using a Weeder tool. It is usually easiest to move from the inside out when weeding.
- Use Transfer Tape and your Scraper Tool to apply the vinyl cuts to your project. Make sure surfaces you plan to adhere to are clean and dry.
- To apply the mandala designs around the base slots, put the design onto two different pieces of transfer tape that split at the slot in the design, and trim the transfer tape if necessary so it can slip around the base slots while you apply the design above and below them.
