Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unpredictable This may be fine for some applications, but I do not recommend it for paintings. (For reference, my paintings are on canvases.) Got this as a topcoat for acrylic pour paintings (paint and pouring medium is also DecoArt). I tried it on one painting first, and it looked good when I thought it was dry. After completely drying (after a day or two), it cracked. I tried it on other paintings and it was hit or miss (but mostly miss). I experimented with several different things on several different painting types. I tried applying it with a brush, with a damp angled sponge, and with dry angled sponge. I tried it on paintings with various thicknesses of paint and on paintings with and without silicone oil. I tried applying different thicknesses of the product itself and tried with one and two layers. The results were unpredictable. There is no common denominator. A have a few that turned out lovely, some that have millions of micro-cracks, and some that have larger cracks. It could be that I got one that was sitting on the shelf too long (that’s happened to me before with paint.), but there is no way to tell. Unfortunately, cracking appears to be a common theme in many varnishes/topcoats. I now have many ruined paintings that were previously gorgeous.
