SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1/2 yd denim fabric
- 1/2 yd fusible interfacing
- 7/8 yd 1" decorative trim
- 1/2 yd ball fringe
- Magnetic closer
- Fabric marker
- Matching thread
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine
- Iron & ironing surface
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut 2 pieces of denim and 1 piece of interfacing 11"x 17".
- Fuse interfacing to WS of one piece of denim - this will be the front side of the clutch, the other piece of denim is the lining.
- On the RS of the clutch front, lay the 1" decorative trim 3/4" up from edge and across the 11" side; edge stitch in place.
- Lay another piece of trim above first piece and edge stitch across.
- Lay third piece on and edge stitch in place.
- On the WS of the lining piece use a fabric marker to place a small dot 1 1/2" up and in the center of the 11" side.
- Fuse a small piece of interfacing over the dot - redraw the dot if necessary.
- Follow manufacturer's directions and put one side of the magnetic closer over the dot.
- On the opposite side of the clutch from the trim, use a fabric marker to place a small dot 3" up and in the center of the 11" side.
- Follow manufacturer's directions and put one side of the magnetic closer over the dot.
- With RST, place the lining with the magnetic closer and the trim side of the clutch together and stitch together, leaving an opening in the side for turning.
- Trim interfacing close to stitching and clip corners.
- Turn RS out and press.
- Slip stitch opening closed.
- Fold up clutch and fold down flap, snapping magnetic closer, press.
- Open clutch and stitch sides together 1/8" from edge and again 1/4".
- Repeat with other side.
- Pin ball trim to WS of flap and stitch in place.
