Desert Wilderness Blanket and Pillows with Sherpa

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1yd - fleece for both the 18" pillow and 14" pillow
  • 1yd - sherpa for the 18" and 14" pillow
  • 2yds - fleece for blanket
  • 2yds - sherpa for blanket
  • 1 - 14" pillow form
  • 1 - 18" pillow form
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

18" pillow

  1. Cut 1 - 21" square from the sherpa and fleece for front of pillow
  2. Cut 1 - 12"x 19" from fleece for back
  3. Cut 1 - 14"x 19" from fleece for back
  4. With RST, pin fleece to sherpa square for front.
  5. Draw a line from one corner of fleece diagonally to opposite corner.
  6. Stitch 1/2" on one side of the line.
  7. Trim extra fabric.
  8. With RST, pin back to front overlapping back pieces to match front.
  9. Stitch 1/2" seam around outside.
  10. Turn and insert pillow form.

14" pillow

  1. Cut 1 - 14 1/2"x 14 1/2" square for front from fleece.
  2. Cut 2 - 15"x 12" from sherpa for back.
  3. Hem the two back pieces of sherpa along the long side.
  4. With RST pin back to front easing in the fullness of back to fit front. The larger back will allow some of the sherpa to show on front when finished.
  5. Turn and insert pillow form.

Blanket

  1. Cut the selvages off on both fleece and sherpa.
  2. With RST, pin the two pieces together using a 1/2" seam leaving an opening for turning.
  3. Turn and sew opening closed.
  4. Top stitch around the edge 1/2" from finished edge.
