SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- One pair of canvas sneakers
- Rit® dye in green
- Rit® dye in blue
- 12 qt stainless steel pot
- Stainless steel tongs
DIRECTIONS:
- Remove shoelaces. Place your sneakers in your stainless steel pot and fill it with enough water to cover them by about 2".
- Let them soak for 20 minutes to open the fibers.
- Remove the sneakers and add 2 T of aqua Rit® dye to the water. Stir well.
- Heat on medium for 20 minutes and then add wet sneakers.
- Heat until they've reached one shade darker than desired color. They will dry lighter. This can happen quickly so keep an eye on them.
- Remove and rinse excess dye off. br
- Dump your dye pot and wash out excess dye residue. Refill your pot with hot water about 1/4 full and add 1 T of green dye. Stir well.
- Dip one shoe at a time in the green dye until you've reached desired color. Rinse excess dye from shoes with cold water.
- Let dry.
