- Lippy (68004) 1 O'Go
- Sizes U.S. J/10 (6 mm) and U.S. L/11 (8 mm) Crochet Hooks (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- GAUGE: 12 sts and 11 rows = 4" in pat with larger hook.
- SIZE: One size to fit Adult.
DIRECTIONS:
NOTES:To begin working with the O'Go format, carefully cut plastic tie where the ends of the O'Go meet.
Pull tie to remove.
For this pattern, colors can be easily separated by gently pulling apart and cutting at the color transition. Each color is ready to use.
Stripe Pat:
- With D, work 4 rnds.
- With A, work 2 rnds.
- With C, work 4 rnds.
- With A, work 2 rnds.
- These 12 rnds form Stripe Pat.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 10 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each st to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from beg measures 21" when slightly stretched. Do not fasten off.
Join last row and first row tog with 1 row of sc. Break E.
Change to larger hook and proceed as follows:
1st rnd: Join D with sl st to side edge at join. Ch 1. Working along side edge, work 64 sc evenly around. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with 'Ch 1. Skip next sc.' Join with sl st to first sc.
3rd rnd: Sl st in last ch-1 sp just worked at end of last rnd. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. *Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with 'Ch 1. Skip next sc.' Join with sl st to first sc.
First 3 rnds of Stripe Pat are complete.
Keeping cont of Stripe Pat, rep last rnd until 12 rnds of Stripe Pat are complete. Break A. Join B at end of last rnd.
Shape Crown: 1st rnd: With B, sl st in last ch-1 sp just worked at end of last rnd. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. (Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next sc) twice. Ch 1. Skip next [Sc. Ch-1 sp. Sc]. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. *(Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next sc) 3 times. Ch 1. Skip next [sc. Ch-1 sp. sc]. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * around, ending with 'Skip next: sc, ch-1 sp and sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 48 sts.
2nd rnd: Sl st in last ch-1 sp just worked at end of last rnd. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. *Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with 'Ch 1. Skip next sc.' Join with sl st to first sc.
3rd rnd: Sl st in last ch-1 sp just worked at end of last rnd. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next sc. *Ch 1. Skip next [sc. Ch-1. Sc]. 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with '1 sc in next sc. Ch 1. Skip next sc.' Join with sl st to first sc.
4th rnd: As 2nd rnd. Fasten off, leaving a long end.
Thread end through rem sts and pull up tightly. Fasten securely.
Pompom: Holding strands of A, B and C, wind yarn around 4 fingers approx 60 times. Remove from fingers and tie tightly in center. Cut through each side of loops. Trim to smooth round shape. Attach Pompom to top of Hat.
