SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1 Unfinished wood box, 5"x7"
- 2 Spools of washi tape, pink and black striped
- X-acto knife
- Cutting surface
- Metal straight edge
- 5/16" Wooden dowel rods
- 1 Grommet kit, 7/16"
- Drill
- Sandpaper
- Small unfinished wooden cups for legs
- 1 Bottle of white acrylic paint
- 1 Bottle of black acrylic paint
- 1 Small paintbrush
- Pliers
- Pencil
DIRECTIONS:
- Remove lid from wooden box using pliers.
- Paint the base of the box white. Let it dry.
- Paint the little unfinished cups black and let them dry.
- Fill the box with 4 rows of washi tape. Use the rolls to figure out where you will be drilling the holes for the dowel rods.
- Find the center measurement of each washi tape. On the sides of the box, make a measurement up from the bottom starting at 1/4". This will be the bottom of the first row. From that measurement make a mark for the center of the first row of washi tape. Measure up to the next row and also find the center of that row. Do that for each row until you reach the top.
- Use the drill to make center pilot holes 1/2". Use the sandpaper to smooth out the holes. Insert the grommets to check the fit.
- Apply the washi tape to the top edge of the box. Where it overlaps the holes, cut out the tape with your X-acto knife. Attach the grommets with the Quick Grip glue.
- Cut the dowel rods to be 1/2 ft wider than the box.
- Glue the cup to the bottom of the finished box to make legs.
- Insert the unfinished wooden dowel rods into the side of the box. Then slide the rows of Washi tap onto the dowel rod. Slide the end of the dowel rod into the other side of the box.
CRAFT HACK TIPS & TRICKS:
- Use the X-acto knife to smooth out the edges of the holes before you insert the grommets.
