Doodle Decorated Pumpkin Pies

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Favorite pumpkin pie and pie crust recipe
  • Pie crust mold
  • Pie stamp
  • Pie pan
  • Cream cheese frosting
  • Disposable decorating bags
  • Decorating tip #3
  • Foil
  • Parchment paper
  • Egg and brush for egg wash
  • Rolling pin

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Make pie crust using your favorite recipe, or you can use store bought pie crust.
  2. Line pan with bottom crust. Prepare pumpkin pie mix and pour into pan.
  3. To make a decorative braid or beaded crust, press crust into decorative pie crust mold. Cut away any extra crust to make a clean design. Brush egg wash onto the edges of the bottom crust and attach top decorative crust.
  4. Cover edges of top pie crust with foil and bake following recipe directions. Once baked, allow pie to completely cool before adding doodle design.
  5. Cut the tip of a disposable bag and insert Wilton decorating tip #3. Fill bag with cream cheese frosting. Gently squeeze bag to make a fun doodle on top of pie. Draw leaves or pumpkins.
  6. To make a top crust with stamp, bake and allow pumpkin pie to completely cool. Roll out top crust on parchment paper and gently press stamp into crust. Remove excess dough and egg wash. Bake on baking pan for ten minutes at 350. Allow crust to completely cool before placing on top of pie.
