SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 100% cotton fabric for apron (1/2 yard)
  • 100% cotton coordinating fabric for top apron (1/4 yard)
  • 100% cotton coordinating fabric for ties (1/4 yard)

DIRECTIONS:
  1. To find the downloadable pattern click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  2. Download pattern.
  3. Cut out 2 pattern pieces on fold from cotton fabric.
  4. Cut one 3"x 20" strip to make neck strap from coordinating fabric.
  5. Make one 3"x 60" strip by connecting two 30" strips of fabric.
  6. Cut one rectangle 12"x 24" for apron overlay. 
  7. With right sides together, pin 3"x 20" strip and sew long edge using 1/4" seam allowance, turn right side out and press, topstitch 1/4" from each edge.
  8. Lay apron front right side up and pin the neck strap to the top of the apron, with strap hanging towards center of the apron. Match raw edges and make sure the strap is not twisted.
  9. With right sides together, pin apron back to apron front.
  10. Sew using 1/2" seam allowance, leaving an opening of 3"-4" at bottom to turn right side out.
  11. Turn and press.
  12. Topstitch 1/4" around edges.
  13. For top apron use 12"x 24" rectangle and turn under 1/4" on 3 sides and press, turning under another 1/4" and topstitching around 3 sides.
  14. On unfinished edge, baste stitch 2 rows to gather.
  15. Pin center of rectangle and pull threads to gather to 12". 
  16. With right sides together, pin center of 60" strip (tie) to center of rectangle and sew using 1/4" seam allowance.
  17. Fold under 1/4" on sides of ties, press and fold in half over stitched rectangle. Pin and topstitch lower edge to ends of tie, folding in ends to finish.
  18. Lay tie and top apron on front of apron, even with the corners.
  19. Pin and sew 1/4" from top edge of tie, attaching the apron to the front.
  20. Press.

Kids' Elastic Neck Apron
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 100% cotton fabric for apron (1/2 yard)
  • 100% coordinating cotton fabric for pocket and ties (1/4 yard)
  • One 15" piece 3/4" elastic for neck strap
  • Pattern download
  • Basic Sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:
  1. To find the downloadable pattern click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  2. Download pattern.
  3. Cut out 2 pattern pieces on fold from cotton fabric.
  4. Cut three 3"x 20" strips to make ties and neck strap from coordinating fabric.
  5. Cut one rectangle 11"x 6" for pocket.
  6. With right sides together, pin each 3"x 20" strip and sew long side using 1/4" seam allowance, turn right side out and press.
  7. Take one strip and thread elastic through for the neck strap, sewing ends of elastic to secure.
  8. Topstitch 1/4" from edges of remaining strips for waist ties, turn under ends and stitch to finish.
  9. For pocket, fold 1/4" under on all sides of rectangle and press.
  10. Press top of pocket under an additional 1/2" and topstitch close to edge.
  11. Pin pocket onto front of apron 5" from bottom edge and centered approximately 3" from each side seam.
  12. Lay apron front right side up and pin the neck strap to the top of the apron, with strap hanging towards center of the apron. Match raw edges and make sure the strap is not twisted.
  13. Pin ties to sides at corner, laying them towards the center of the apron. 
  14. With right sides together pin apron back to apron front.
  15. Sew using 1/2" seam allowance, leaving an opening of 3"-4" at bottom to turn right side out.
  16. Turn and press.
  17. Topstitch 1/4" around edges of apron.
