Got one in high school sewing class
I have used this exact one since 1966 but it was packed when we moved and that bix has yet to be unpacked so I had to buy a new one. It's a very necessary tool.

So useful!

Great for hemming!
This small convenient ruler/gauge has a slider so that you can be sure that if you want to measure an inch (or whatever measure up to six inches) around your entire item, the slider is in place to keep the measurement. I use this when I buy pants that are too long and need to be hemmed. The slider on the gauge can be adjusted from a fraction of an inch, to several inches, and stays in place so you can measure to work on your item without constantly having to remeasure. This is also great as a small ruler.
