Endless Cube

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Eight (8) 1 1/4" wood cubes
  • 3 or 6 different color rolls of duct tape
  • Transparent tape (or other easy to peel temporary tape)
  • Scissors or craft knife
  • Cutting mat
  • Ruler

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Stack cubes in to a 4x4 cube.
  2. Apply transparent tape as shown in the Diagram 1.
  3. *Squares with transparent tape will be replaced with 2 1/2"x 1 1/4" pieces of duct tape.
  4. *Squares without transparent tape will be covered with 1 1/4"x 1 1/4" pieces of duct tape.
  5. Gently open cube until it is 2x8 cubes.
  6. Choose first tape color.
  7. Lay tape out on cutting mat along a straight line.
  8. Using a ruler & craft knife, cut as many 2 1/2"x 1 1/4" and 1 1/4"x 1 1/4" pieces that are needed.
  9. Remove any transparent tape and cover those sides with the 2 1/2"x 1 1/4" pieces and fill in the remaining with the 1 1/4"x 1 1/4" pieces.
  10. Flip 2"x 8" over and cover as directed above using another color.
  11. Unfold and flip until another blank 2"x 8" cube appears and cover as directed above.
  12. Keep flipping and covering until all pieces are covered.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Cutting tape slightly larger will ensure no wood gaps showing, edges can always be trimmed.
  • Scissors and a ruler could be used if cutting mat and craft knife are unavailable.
