DIRECTIONS:

    STITCH EXPLANATION:
    Yo (yarn over)
    An increase that also creates a small decorative hole (eyelet) in the fabric, worked as follows:
    1. Bring yarn to front, between the needles.
    2. Take yarn to back, over the right hand needle. This creates the new st. You are now ready to proceed with the next st as instructed.

    NOTES:
    Shawl is worked in one piece beginning at the neck edge.
    A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Work back and forth on the circular needle as if working on straight needles.
    Four yarn over increases are worked on every RS row of Shawl.

    SHAWL:
    Cast on 5 sts.
    Knit 2 rows.

    Set Up Row (RS): K2, yo, place marker, k1, place marker, yo, k2 - at the end of this row you will have 7 sts.
    Next Row: Slipping markers as you come to them, k2, purl to last 2 sts, k2.

    Row 1 (Increase Row, RS): K2, yo, k to marker, yo, slip marker, k1, slip marker, yo, k to last 2 sts, yo, k2.
    Rows 2 and 4: Slipping markers as you come to them, k2, purl to last 2 sts, k2.
    Rows 3 and 5: Repeat Row 1.
    Row 6 (WS): Slipping markers as you come to them, knit across.

    Repeat Rows 1 - 6 until piece along center st between markers measures about 25 1/2 in. (65 cm), end with a Row 6 as the last row you work.

    Border
    Next Row: K2, yo, k to marker, yo, slip marker, k1, slip marker, yo, k to last 2 sts, yo, k2.
    Next Row (WS): Slipping markers as you come to them, knit across.

    Repeat last 2 rows 3 more times - total of 8 rows worked for border.
    Bind off loosely.

    FINISHING:
    Weave in ends.
