Fabric Beach Balls

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Large - 3/4 yd of 2 contrasting fabrics
  • Medium - 1/2 yd of 2 contrasting fabrics
  • Small - 1/2 yd of 2 contrasting fabrics
  • Fiber Fill
  • Matching thread
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

    1/2" seam allowance used.
    For all sizes:
  1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above). Enlarge patterns.
  2. Cut 3 of each fabric.
  3. With RST, stitch together alternating fabrics.
  4. Note: stitch one end matching points, stitch the other end stopping about 1" from point.
  5. Clip seams and turn RS out.
  6. Stuff to desired fullness.
  7. From paper make circle patterns - 3" for large, 2 1/2" for medium, and 2" for small.
  8. Using circle pattern, draw 2 circles onto the WS of fabric.
  9. Cut out circles leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.
  10. Carefully clip all around circle to almost the drawn line.
  11. Lay paper pattern onto WS of circle and press seam over paper.
  12. Remove paper and blindstitch onto bottom of ball.
  13. Repeat for top circle.
