  8. Press under again 2 1/2" and stitch in place for bottom hem.

WALLPAPER:
  1. It is recommended to do this in separate panels rather than trying to match repeats by hanging sections directly beside each other without spacing.
  2. Prep the wall by washing it thoroughly and making sure there is no soap residue. Cover your flooring with a drop cloth.
  3. Use a rotary blade to cut off the selvage edges of the fabric, or to trim down the width of your desired panels. Then cut the panel of fabric to be the height of your desired panel.
  4. Tack the dry fabric to the wall at the top of your panel. With one person pulling the fabric away from the wall, a second person should use a paint roller to apply a generous amount of liquid starch to the wall. Then, the fabric should immediately be smoothed onto the starched wall, using a stiff brush to gently brush the fabric into place, beginning from the center and brushing out towards the edges of the panel.
  5. Immediately after brushing, roll another coat of liquid starch onto the face of the fabric that is on the wall, saturating it completely.
  6. After the fabric has dried, remove the tacks and apply painted wood trim to finish the edges. If you are not comfortable with adding wood trim, you could also apply ribbon or fabric trim to the edges with an adhesive such as Fabri-Tac.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Before applying fabric to the wall, remove any switch or outlet covers and mark on your pinned-up fabric where the wall openings are. Trim these areas before applying the liquid starch. Cover the switch outlet covers with fabric, matching the pattern, and return the cover to the wall after the wallpaper is applied for a neat and finished look.
