SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
DIRECTIONS:
JOANN HACKS:
- 3yds Customizer fabric of choice
- Hot glue gun & glue gun sticks
- 44"x 50" quilting batting
- Wood board for the base or 1" insulation foam board for the base (41"x 50")
- Scissors
- X-Acto knife (if using the insulation board)
- Jig saw (if you are using wood for the base)
- Sharpie marker
- 48" large metal ruler
DIRECTIONS:
- Draw the shape that you want on the board. If it is wood, cut it out with a jigsaw. If you are using the insulation board, use the X-Acto knife.
- Wrap the board with the quilt batting and glue it to the back side of the board.
- Cut the fabric to fit the front of the board with 2" overlap on all sides.
- With the fabric on the front, glue the bottom edge to the batting all the way across the bottom of the headboard to hold the fabric in place.
- Turn the board around to the top and pull the fabric tight and glue it in place.
- Flip the board over and starting at the bottom glue the fabric around the board.
- At the corners, fold fabric in and under.
- Cut some of the inside fabric away from the corner to reduce the bulk.
- When you get to the top of the headboard, cut small pieces to fit the inside fold of the corners.
- Cut the fabric to fit the inside corners and fold under to hide the seam.
- Glue the fabric to the inside glue piece in the corners.
- Cut darts on the fabric on the backside of the top oval.
- Pull each piece and glue to the backside to prevent any wrinkles on the curve.
JOANN HACKS:
- Don't pull the fabric too tight, because it will pucker and pull from different sides. When you glue it to the backside, pull it evenly on all sides.
