SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
DIRECTIONS:
JOANN HACKS:
- Unfinished wood circle base
- Fabric Mod Podge
- Acrylic paint
- Fabric (large enough piece to cover the wood base)
- Foam flat brush
- X-Acto® blade
- Medium flat brush
- Water & paper towels for clean up
- Pink spray paint
- Clock kit
- Screwdriver & drill bit
- Ruler
- Pencil
- 12- white 1" Number 5 stickers (precut stickers or use your Cricut® machine to make your own)
DIRECTIONS:
- In a well ventilated area spray paint the clock hands with pink spray paint.
- Next, paint the frame of the unfinished wood base with acrylic paint, using a medium flat brush. Apply additional coats as needed. Set aside to dry.
- Once the frame is dry, apply Mod Podge to the center of the wood base and place the fabric down across the circle. Make sure to cover the entire inside of the circle, letting the excess fabric go up over the frame (this will be cut away later).
- Apply another coat of Mod Podge over the fabric, making sure to push the fabric into the corners all around the edge where the frame meets the center. Set aside to dry.
- While the Mod Podge is drying, this is a good opportunity to make your Number 5s on your Cricut® machine. If you are using pre-made number stickers you can skip this step.
- Once the Mod Podge is completely dry, take an X-Acto® blade and cut around the edge of the frame. For best results, cut into the thin side of the frame not down into the back. This will give you a clean line.
- Use a ruler and pencil to mark the center of the circle.
- Using the drill and drill bit sized to your clock kit, drill a hole in the center of the wood. Drill from the fabric side down and drill slowly so you do not rip the fabric.
- Assemble the clock kit as directed into the wood base and add the spray painted hands.
- Add the 5s around the clock where traditional clock numbers would go, if they are having trouble sticking, depending on what stickers you are using, you can Mod Podge over them to secure them in place. Allow to dry.
- Hang and enjoy
JOANN HACKS:
- If the fabric around your frame is not straight on the sides and needs touched up, use the frame color paint to paint over the fabric and make a clean line.
- Make sure your fabric is in the correct direction to the hanger on the wooden base so that it is not upside down when hung.
