DIRECTIONS:

  1. Adhere the Printed Cotton Fabric to the Felt:
    • Apply Wonder-Under to the felt following the manufacturer's instructions.
    • Remove the paper and apply the cotton fabric to the Wonder-Under following the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. Cut into Circles:
    • Trace a round object about 4" in diameter, like a cup, onto the cotton top of the felt.
    • Cut out.

  3. Sew with the Embroidery Floss:
    • Fold the circle in half, matching the cotton fabric together.
    • At the center of the folded edge, make a 1 1/2" line towards the edge
    • With a handsewing needle and embroidery floss, make a few stitches from the center to the end of the marked line.
    • Knot the floss.

  4. Fold into a Fortune Cookie:
    • Pull edges of the circle in towards the sewn line.
    • The felt will form into a fortune cookie shape.

  5. Write fortunes on slips of white paper and place inside.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Poorly written instructions. My biggest roadblock is where to get the Wonder Under paper backed interfacing. My JoAnn Fabric had no idea what I was asking for, nor did I see it on the website. That killed the project for me. What interfacing have other folks used? Is the Wonder Under essential to success

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute cookies! These fabric fortune cookies are so cute! I made mine with non-Valentine cotton fabric. I’ve attached the finished results and a picture of where to sew the 1.5” line. I agree the instructions were a bit confusing. I made my line 1”. Then turn the cookie right-side out on both sides of the sewn line.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Need better instructions Terrible instructions. You could have at least provided a diagram or some pictures. Or how about a tutorial, that would have been great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Title Very Cute but very poorly written instructions. Pictures would help a lot. Would like to make them but unless the instructions are re-written it will not happen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super cute! Super cute! The sew/turn step was confusing (really hard to explain, even with pictures) so I looked up some tutorials on YouTube. Thanks for sharing this fun project!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Need Better Directions I love the concept but the directions are sorely lacking. Pictures would help. I always craft with my 10 year old granddaughter but we had to skip this project - so sad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better directions Better way to explain how to form the fortune cookie iwould be “after sewing the line on the felt, turn each side (right and left) of the line inside out so fabric is on the outside. “
