- Fabric marker or tailor's chalk
- Pom Trim, 3/8"x 6' spool, 1yd each napkin
- Two 10"x 10" piece of fabric, one for each napkin
- Chopstick or dowel
- Fabric glue
- Optional: fabric clips
DIRECTIONS:
- 9"x 9" napkins, fabric cut two 10"x 10". 1/2" seam allowance.
- Measure trim edge width (thickness that will be sewn to the inside of napkin, edge opposite from decorative edge). On RS of one fabric square mark 1/2" SA minus width of trim edge. Mark points on lines 1/2" from each corner. Lay trim with decorative edge facing the center of the napkin. Start the trim centered on one side of fabric. Line up edge of trim with marked line on fabric. Use a zipper foot to sew close to the decorative edge of trim. At 1/2" mark at corners clip into the edge of trim. Turn. At end of border trim to overlap back of trim and cut off excess poms.
- Lay fabric square with poms RS down on RS of second fabric square. Pin together matching corners. Sew together on top of original stitching. Leave 3" open on one side. Clip corners. Turn RSO. Push out corners with chopstick or dowel. Fold in opening to match sides. Press. Hand stitch opening closed or lay a small bead of fabric glue to trim edge at opening. Press fabric onto trim edge. Use fabric clips to hold in place until set. Check area where cut ends of pom trim meet. To prevent fray add a small bead of fabric glue and work into pom.
- Topstitch 1/4" in from trim around perimeter of napkin.
